Let Earth Receive Her King

2013 - A combined The Escape Plan album release and Christmas concert was hosted in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, in December 2011, featuring Johnny Church himself, Katou Church (vocals, bass); Nico Church (djembe, vocals, various percussion); Kathleen Noah (guitar, vocals); Jordan Clayton (violin), Charity Corbett (saxophone, vocals); Sierra DiGiacomo-Maika (keyboards); and lastly Amanda Kelly (guitar, vocals).

A partial bootleg recording of this concert was later found, apprehended, remastered and then officially released as a 4-track Christmas-themed EP album, entitled: "Let Earth Receive Her King", in time for Christmas 2013.

This album showcases a memorably energetic approach to O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, as well as the Huron Carol (composed by Saint Jean de Brébeuf, now public domain), the first Christmas Carol known to be written on Canadian soil, in the original Wendat language (Huron). Moreover, this live version of King of Kings, originally on the Starscape Over Sunny-Side-Up album, though made popular when sung in Sydney, Australia for World Youth Day 2008, was included in the set list (on the occasion of the Davidic royal line to return by means of Jesus' birth) is noted to be Johnny Church's personal favourite rendering of the song, as the interplay of the saxophone and violin countermelodies enhance the broad and open vocal harmonies. Hence, in order to preserve these gems, significant effort was placed into restoring the recording quality to what it now has become.
